CNY Branch Pen Women Create Ekphrastic Poetry Inspired by Schweinfurth Art Center's MINY Exhibition

Eleven CNY Branch Pen Women writers created ekphrastic poetry and prose inspired by the Made in New York exhibition currently on view at the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center in Auburn, NY. The Pen Women will read their original work at the Schweinfurth on the evening of May 4, 2023 in Auburn. This collaboration of artists and writers has been on ongoing one with the Schweinfurth Art Center since 2018 when Mary Gardner initiated the contact and organized the first collaborative event.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the collaboration continued with the reading taking place over ZOOM.

On the evening of May 4, 2023, MINY artists and Pen Women writers gathered to listen to the ekphrastic work and discuss the art and how the inspiration led to new creations after the reading concluded.
