CNY Branch of the NLAPW

Creating Holiday Tree for the Everson Museum and Community

On November 26th, 2023, Pen Women Nancy Dafoe, Susan Wolstenholme, and Sue Murphy put together a holiday tree and decorated it with the beautiful, handmade creations of Mary Raineri at the Everson Museum in Syracuse, NY.

The CNY Branch Pen Women's holiday "Tree of Metaphorical Light" will be on display at the Museum's Festival of Trees and Light starting December 2 through December 16th. In this 38th year of the Festival of Trees, the Everson opens its doors to the community in their annual auction of holiday trees, wreaths, and baskets to raise funds for the Art Museum. All of the Letters' members published books were displayed in tiny facsimiles on the tree, including Judith McGinn's book of stories, published posthumously.

The Pen Women have participated in this Museum fund-raising event for the past several years, raising our profile in the process of helping support one of the best museums in Upstate New York.

Special thanks this year to Mary Raineri who created all of the tree's decorations.
