Keeping the Art Alive, a Tour of Valenzuela's Shop Am-a-ranth, Press and Bindery
On the afternoon of November 14, Pen Women from the CNY Branch visited the Delavan studio of Chicanx artist, printer, and hand bookbinder Carrie Valenzuela. Valenzuela took Pen Women through her shop Am-a-ranth, showing how each printing press worked, and discussed her processes in keeping the art of fine printing alive. Valenzuela makes specialty posters, one-of-a-kind journals, sketch books, photo albums, and handbound books.
All were inspired by Carrie's enthusiasm, knowledge of printing and bookbinding, and extensive talents. Thank you to Georgia Popoff for setting up this a wonderful experience with a creative woman in business.
